About us

Our Story

Vuga means "to talk" or "to speak" in the Ha language, spoken by the Waha people of western Tanzania. At the heart of our journeys is conversation — not just about the landscapes and wildlife you’ll encounter on game drives, but about life, culture, and connection. Vuga is a space to share stories, exchange ideas, and build meaningful relationships through the power of dialogue.

Meet Pasco, Safari Guide and Wildlife Specialist

Born and raised near the Kogatende area of Tanzania, Pasco grew up surrounded by the wild. His earliest memories include herding his grandfather’s cows alongside zebras, giraffes, and elephants — an experience that sparked a lifelong fascination with animal behavior. His mother, a proud member of the Chaga tribe of Kilimanjaro, passed down deep cultural roots and respect for the land.

Pasco holds a Bachelor's degree in Wildlife Management from the University of Morogoro and is a graduate of the Muiba College Wildlife Training Center. With over 9 years of experience in the field — from guiding on Mount Kilimanjaro to leading unforgettable game drives and walking safaris — he brings both expertise and heart to every journey. First Aid certified and fluent in cultural exchange, Pasco believes guiding is not just a job but his passion, his dream, and his bloodline. He’s deeply committed to connecting people and communities through nature and storytelling.

Meet Plamena, Explorer & Co-Founder

Born and raised in Bulgaria, Plamena spent the past 14 years in the United States, living on both coasts before settling in San Francisco. Driven by a deep passion for exploration, she has always sought meaningful adventures that connect people, nature, and culture.

In 2024, she traveled to Tanzania and met Pasco, who guided her through the country’s breathtaking national parks. Their journey sparked something profound — not just a love for Tanzania’s wild beauty, but a powerful connection rooted in shared values and vision. In 2025, she returned to summit Mount Kilimanjaro, an experience that brought deep healing and clarity.

Her bond with Pasco grew into a shared mission: to create transformative, authentic experiences that bring people closer to nature, culture, and themselves.
